Woman from Matrimonial Site Assaults and Robs Ex-Army Officer
Retired Army Colonel Alleges Assault, Robbery, and Blackmail in Mathura
A retired Army colonel from Haryana has filed a police complaint in Mathura, alleging a harrowing ordeal involving being held hostage, assaulted, looted, and forced to participate in an “obscene video” at gunpoint. The incident reportedly occurred after he met a woman through a matrimonial website, who turned out to be part of a scheme to rob him.
Meeting through a Matrimonial Website
The retired Army colonel, identified as Colonel Rajneesh Soni (retired) and a resident of Gurugram, reported that he was contacted by a woman from Barsana on a matrimonial website in January. The woman, who allegedly agreed to marry him, began communicating with him. She eventually persuaded the colonel to visit Barsana on January 25, under the pretense of visiting the Radharani temple.
The Alleged Incident
Upon arriving in Barsana, the woman arranged for the colonel to stay at a guest house and took him on a tour of the area, including a visit to the temple. However, things took a dark turn when the woman and her accomplices informed the colonel that her brother had been in an accident and they needed to leave urgently. They then led him to a waiting car.
Assault, Robbery, and Blackmail
Once outside the town limits, the colonel alleges that he was attacked by the occupants of the car. They seized his phone, physically assaulted him, and forced him to contact relatives and friends to transfer money. The assailants then took him back to the guest house, where he was allegedly coerced into participating in obscene videos and photographs at gunpoint. He was threatened that the videos would be made public if he reported the incident.
The colonel reported that his purse, bag, gold chain, debit card, and Rs. 12,000 in cash were stolen from the guest house during the ordeal. Despite attempting to locate the perpetrators on his own, he eventually reported the incident to the Barsana police two days ago.
Police Investigation and Action
Barsana Station House Officer (SHO) Raj Kamal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and that the police are currently investigating all aspects of the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The shocking allegations made by the retired Army colonel highlight the dangers of online interactions and the importance of exercising caution when engaging with strangers, especially on matrimonial websites. The case serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure one’s safety and security in all circumstances.
