“American Idol”: Top 3 Contenders Chosen For 2024 Championship

In the lead-up to the grand finale of the 22nd season, the top 5 contestants experienced Disney Night at the theme park, guided by mentor Kane Brown.

On Sunday night (May 12), three American Idol hopefuls’ dreams were realized as they embarked on an unforgettable journey to Walt Disney World.

The second-to-last episode of this season featured Disney Night as its theme, with the top 5 contenders immersing themselves in the magic of the park under the mentorship of Kane Brown.

Following a night filled with excitement, Abi Carter, Will Moseley, and Jack Blocker emerged as the triumphant finalists, while Triston Harper and Emmy Russell faced elimination.

In their bid for the championship title, Carter enchanted audiences with renditions of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid and “The Chain” from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2; Blocker delivered captivating performances of “Nobody’s Fool” from Cars 2 and David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny; and Moseley impressed with renditions of “Born To Be Wild” from D3: The Mighty Ducks and “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” from Toy Story 4.

Jenifer Lewis and Terence Blanchard graced the stage with a stirring rendition of “Dig A Little Deeper” from The Princess and the Frog, while Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie captivated audiences with their rendition of “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Toy Story.

During the event, The Walt Disney Company seized the opportunity to announce the opening of a new attraction at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, titled Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, scheduled for June 28. Additionally, Idina Menzel was honored with an award for her song “Let It Go” from Frozen, achieving Diamond certification by the RIAA.

Carter, Moseley, and Blocker now advance to the three-hour grand final, which will feature renowned Rock And Roll Hall of Famer Jon Bon Jovi as a guest mentor. Special performances will also be given by Nick Fradiani, New Kids On The Block, Jason Mraz, Hootie And The Blowfish, Cece Winans, James Bay, Wyonna Judd, Seal, Bishop Briggs, and Cody Johnson.
